Course Description:

The course focuses on Massage Therapists working with babies and teaching nurturing touch to parents.  In this one day course, you will learn how to incorporate massage therapy techniques for babies one day old to 12 months old. You will gain tools to help you work with babies who have teething pain, gas, colic, constipation, torticollis, and special needs. You will also learn how to effectively teach parents how to massage their baby as well. Baby massage can be taught one on one or in a group setting. This is a great tool to add to any massage therapy practice and compliments a massage therapist who has a special interest in pregnancy massage. After completing this training, students should be able to safely and effectively treat infants & teach parents how to utilize nurturing touch for their babies well being.

Course Objectives:

Understand contraindications and indications in infant massage treatment.
Determine suitable techniques and treatment regimens/modifications related to treating infants.
Efficiently treat the following regions: Head, Face, Back, Arms, Abdomen & legs of infant patients in a variety of safe positions.
Introduce special treatments for colic, constipation, and torticollis in infant massage.
Explore effective pressure and technique used specifically for infants.
Introduce marketing and business development for the perinatal focused practice
Introduce skills related to facilitating infant massage classes for parents and caregivers
What is needed?

A course manual will be provided via PDF and emailed to you the week of the course. Please bring your computer or tablet to view the manual if you choose not to print it. The students will be responsible for bringing a doll and large towel, nut-free massage oil safe for babies, and a yoga mat. If you do not have access to these materials please notify us before the course so we can make other arrangements for you.
